Maddeningly contradictory text in Dido and Aeneas: In a single scene with one location, the environment is originally described as an uninhabited valley in the woods, then a mountain with a waterfall, and finally as an open field, providing no shelter from an oncoming storm. WHICH IS IT, PURCELL? WHICH IS IT?
As our race to raise funds for the opera continues, please enjoy this glimpse behind the scenes of ATS Opera Workshop: Dido and Aeneas, rehearsal week two! Featuring Sarah & Samantha’s birthday, waaaaay too much heat and humidity, and the birth of Bryann! Check out the video to find out what that means. 😉
Also, Greyson makes declarations about Idina Menzel and Zac Efron that I just can’t get behind, but y’know…

I did not realize that assembling this bench from Amazon for our set would be so much fun. Yes, my teens named the bench “Bryann.” (Pronounced like “Brian.”) They/them pronouns, please. With Brayden, Aislinn, Andrea, Carina, and Milena.
We will have our last online fundraiser for the season up in a day or so (it is pending approval by our fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas), but in the meantime, you can enjoy this first entry of our Dido and Aeneas video diary, including a glimpse at our rehearsals this week, some information about the opera this year, and thoughts on the gay agenda. 🏳️🌈 😉
For the record, our version of Dido and Aeneas *does* have a pretty gay agenda. As per our *other* unofficial motto.
It is only day three of rehearsals, and this is where we’re at.
