We had a lovely day, spent mostly trespassing and attempted trespassing. Paul and I have a friend visiting, so the three of us plus Paul’s two friends from work decided to do some adventuring. First we attempted to trespass at the Northampton State Hospital, a former mental institution in town. This attempt was thwarted, as the buildings have come under new ownership (so it seems) and are now guarded. We did sneak into one portion of it, but couldn’t get very far without running into places we already knew we couldn’t get by.
So. We moved on to Mountain Park, the site of a ruined amusement park on Mt. Tom in Holyoke, MA. The park had burned down a few years back (it was already closed), so we found only overgrown ruins like this. We spent several hours there (and also searching out the former site of the water park and alpine slides they had there), and came out very very sweaty and exhausted, but having had a great time.
It was a good day.
